ABOUT US

Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Symposium on the History of  Science inIslam a series of international academic events that aim to explore the scientific legacy of Islamic civilization through various disciplines. Named after Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin—renowned for his pioneering work in the field of Islamic science history and his global contributions to the discipline—this symposium series was first held in 2019.

Organized each year around a different theme, the symposia highlight the contributions of the Islamic world in fields such as astronomy, mathematics, medicine, geography, navigation, and engineering. By focusing on classical sources, they provide a platform for the presentation of original research. Participants include historians, scientists, academics, and researchers, and the presented papers are later published as academic volumes.

The symposia aim not only to enhance understanding of the past but also to encourage the re-evaluation of this legacy in relation to contemporary science and technology.
